Season 2012
First XI - Nairn (Away) Match Report
The First XI travelled the short distance to Nairn, to play them at the Links ground and gain our second win of the season. Counties won the toss on a sunny but bitterly cold day and elected to bat. That decision could have been questioned when two early wickets fell with the score at 19. However things changed after a breathtaking innings from M.Tucker who batted Nairn out of the game. A brilliant partnership between Tucker and Eshwara of 125, with Tucker dominating the scoring set Counties up superbly. Other small contributions from Counties batsmen helped us score 235-5 off our 45 overs. The praise had to go to Tucker though who hit 4 sixes and numerous 4s until he was finally out caught behind after scoring 142 runs. We took to the field knowing early wickets would take the game out of Nairn's hands. Robertson and Eshwara struck at regular intervals and put good pressure on the Nairn batsmen to keep scoring to a minimum. Counties bowlers did have to toil for a bit after a stand of 50 between Gibson and Huxtable. However after their partnership was broken wickets fell and Nairn were finally bowled out for 105 off 44 overs. Eshwara bowled well and took 5-25, Lawanjeen also with 3-18 and Robertson 2-22. Another succesful performance after a brilliant display from Tucker with the bat. Next week we travel to Lossie, for are hardest match yet.
